Nursing Care Plan for Lymphatic Filariasis / Elephantiasis

Hyperthermia related to inflammation of the lymph nodes

Expected outcomes:

The patient's body temperature within normal limits.

Interventions:
  • Give compress on the area of the frontal and axial.
  • Monitor vital signs, especially temperature.
  • Monitor the temperature of the environment, and environmental modifications as needed, for example, providing a thin blanket.
  • Encourage the client to drink plenty of water.
  • Encourage the client to wear thin and absorbs sweat if high heat.
  • Collaboration with the medical team in the delivery of therapeutic treatment (antipyretic).
Rationale:
  • Affect temperature regulation center in the hypothalamus, reduces body heat which results in vasoconstriction of blood so that the output of heat by conduction.
  • To determine the possibility of changing vital signs.
  • Can assist in retaining / stabilizing the patient's body temperature.
  • Expected body fluid balance can be met.
  • With thin clothes and absorbs perspiration will reduce evaporation.
  • It is expected to reduce the heat and reduce infection.
